Sabdham Ibomma Review

Performances

  • Aadhi Pinisetty shines in the role of Vyuma, bringing intensity and depth to his character. His body language, mannerisms, and dialogue delivery add to the film’s gripping atmosphere.
  • Lakshmi Menon delivers a decent performance as Dr. Avanthika, but her role lacks depth.
  • Simran, despite looking aged, performs convincingly in her role as the ex-principal.
  • Laila, playing an Anglo-Indian woman, attempts to bring uniqueness to her role, but her performance feels out of place.
  • Rajiv Menon does well as Daniel, but his character lacks proper elevation in the climax.
  • M.S. Bhaskar and Vivek Prasanna provide strong supporting performances.
  • Redin Kingsley adds comic relief, but his humor sometimes feels forced in an otherwise serious film.

Technical Aspects

  • Direction & Writing: Arivazhagan Venkatachalam introduces a fresh concept by exploring the power of sound in horror. The first half is gripping, but the second half loses steam, becoming predictable.
  • Screenplay: The screenplay is engaging initially, but once the mystery is revealed, the film loses its intensity.
  • Music & BGM: Thaman S delivers a powerful score, effectively setting the eerie tone.
  • Cinematography: Arun Bathmanaban’s visuals enhance the horror atmosphere, using dark lighting and eerie camera angles effectively.
  • Editing: Sabu Joseph’s editing is sharp in the first half but could have been tighter in the second half, where the pacing drops.

Positives:

Aadhi Pinisetty’s intense performance
Engaging first half with a strong setup
Thaman’s chilling background score
Cinematography effectively enhances horror

Negatives:

Predictable second half
