Kanguva IBomma Review
Suriya delivers a powerful performance in Kanguva, showcasing his exceptional talent in a dual role as Kanguva, a warrior lord, and Francis. His portrayal of a leader who sacrifices everything for his clan’s promise is one of the film’s standout elements. The emotional depth he brings to the character adds significant weight to the story, making it an engaging experience, especially for his fans. The movie is packed with grand visuals, intense action, and emotional moments that align with audience expectations for a Suriya-starrer.
The supporting cast contributes significantly to the film’s appeal. Disha Patani impresses with her glamorous role, connecting well with the younger audience. Bobby Deol, as the main antagonist, delivers a compelling performance, giving depth to his character and proving to be a fitting nemesis for Suriya. Natarajan Subramaniam also adds value with his strong screen presence, while KS Ravikumar, Yogi Babu, Kovai Sarala, and Mansoor Ali Khan do justice to their crucial roles, leaving a lasting impression.
While the movie excels in many aspects, there are a few drawbacks. The romance between Suriya and Disha Patani feels underwhelming and lacks the depth needed to make it more engaging. Some sequences in the narrative fail to maintain the intensity, making parts of the film feel slower than expected. Although director Siva masterfully executes the climax and action scenes, the pacing in other sections weakens the overall impact of the story.
Technically, Kanguva is top-notch. Vetri Palaniswami’s cinematography beautifully captures the period setting and enhances the narrative’s grandeur. The action scenes, especially the underwater sequences, are visually stunning. Devi Sri Prasad’s songs are decent, with their picturization standing out, while his background score is adequate. Despite its flaws, Kanguva impresses with Suriya’s exceptional performance, a strong supporting cast, and high production values, making it an entertaining watch for fans of period dramas.
Kanguva Budget
Kanguva was filmed in beautiful locations like Chennai, Goa, Kerala, Kodaikanal, and Rajahmundry, adding a vibrant look to the movie. The music, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, perfectly complements the grand visuals. With Vetri Palanisamy handling cinematography and Nishadh Yusuf as the editor, the film flows smoothly and looks stunning. Made on a massive budget of around ₹300–350 crore, Kanguva is one of the most expensive Indian films, showcasing high production quality and impressive technical work.
